Transportation operations manager
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and manage a team of 7 dispatchers, ensuring smooth operations and the achievement of objectives for dispatching LTL, TL, container, and straight truck shipments.
- Provide mentoring, training, and coaching to dispatchers, fostering a positive and efficient team environment.
- Oversee dispatching and proactive planning to ensure on-time deliveries and resource optimization.
- Monitor driver performance, safety, and compliance in collaboration with the compliance team.
- Maintain accurate records in the TMS system and ensure route sheets are updated and completed before the end of each period.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers, drivers, customers, and other departments to resolve issues and improve processes.
- Plan for business growth, seasonal fluctuations, and vacation time while seeking to reduce costs across different dispatch segments.
- Monitor and improve driver and dispatcher performance through ongoing training and regular evaluations.
- Perform any other tasks required to ensure operational efficiency.
- Enhance the customer experience by increasing punctuality and reducing missed pickups, rescheduling, and billing delays.
- Improve stops per hour and overall operational efficiency through proactive planning and audits.
- Promote teamwork and improved communication within the dispatch team and with other departments.
PROFILE
- 3+ years of dispatching experience.
- 3+ years of management experience (an asset).
- Degree in Transportation and Logistics or a related field.
- Knowledge of national and international transportation regulations and safety standards.
- Knowledge and mastery of Law 430.
- Planning and organizational skills to effectively manage multimodal routes.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage emergency situations effectively.
- Punctuality, professionalism, and diligence.
- Resourcefulness and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office.
- Bilingualism (French, English)*
